Mobile Crisis Teams (MCT) are emergency mental health service designed to serve the community by providing emergency services to people in crisis.
Nurstead provides 24-hour a day, 7 day a week mobile crisis services to Roosevelt and Curry County. Mobile Crisis services are designed to assist individuals who are in crisis by providing services wherever the individual is located. On scene clinicians and paraprofessionals work with the individual and their family and friends if present to provide such as mental health evaluation, de-escalation, brief counseling to address the present crisis and provide referrals to services that can assist in longer-term crisis prevention.
Mobile Crisis Teams can be requested by someone in distress, or by anyone who is concerned that someone might harm themselves or someone else, based on their words and/or actions. Support may be requested due to a person exhibiting signs of psychosis, grave disability, or altered mental status. Nurstead’s MCT responds in the community, be that a park, a school, or an individual’s home.
In most cases Nurstead’s MCT responds without law enforcement, but if safety is a concern law enforcement may arrive separate from MCT members to ensure team members are safe.
